A few posts back I talked about how I had bought a board game called Settlers of Catan, and a game called Carcassonne. Well, since that time, not so long ago, I've become something of a board game addict.

Some friends and I started having a weekly "Dudes Day In" where we have brunch and play board games, and that has slowly convinced me to buy board game after board game. In the matter of just a couple months, my dining room now has this pile of games in the corner:

To be fair, the old game with duct tape is my roommates, and "Survive" is my girlfriend's game. The rest, however, are the products of my new addiction.

Right now, my favorite by far is Cosmic Encounters. My friends and I have been playing it nearly every day since I bought it a couple weeks back.

I even got my new roommate into it, which means we've been able to have some epic five player games. Essentially all you have to do in the game is attack other people's planets with UFOs, and play attack cards, with the highest number winning. Obviously there's a bit more to it, but that's the gist. What's so awesome about the game though is that you get to be one of 50 different aliens, all with different powers which change the rules of the game. The Filch alien lets you steal cards as long as no one is looking, Leviathan lets you drag planets around as space ships, The fungus lets you "adhere" to other people's ships, etc. Also, the art is awesome:

So if anyone out there has been wondering why I haven't been posting much lately, it's because I've just been having my fun through playing board games all the time, and it's hard to turn that into more than a couple of blog posts, max.
